Convergence in Cameroon: a pathway for investments in food system sustainability?
Cameroon is an emerging leader of the Convergence Initiative for food security and climate mitigation. The country is among the most advanced African countries in this regard, with a national Convergence Plan centred on three areas:
the rice sector,
agroecology,
import substitution.
To support the Cameroon Convergence agenda, SASi-SPi assessed the sustainability of these three strategic options.

Cameroon has ambitions to reduce greenhouse gases by 35 percent by 2030. SASi-SPi has provided strategic intelligence to support these ambitions and improve access to climate funding.

Import Substitution and Agri-Food Systems in Cameroon
SASi-SPi has analysed the sustainability and trade-offs of Cameroon ambitious import substitution policy.
SASi-SPi has provided an overview of the logic and objectives of the import substitution policy in the Cameroon context with a description on how it may affect the country’s agri-food system. The SASi-SPi team has also assessed the related sustainability concerns and provided an analysis of the trade-offs associated with the different measures proposed in the recent import substitution plan.
The Cameroon–EU Business Week is a high-level, biennial economic forum aimed at promoting trade and investment partnerships between the European Union and Cameroon. It takes place for the second time 16-19 of June 2026 in Yaoundé Cameroon.
